چکیده

During obstacle crossing, healthy adults increase toeground/obstacle clearance from an average of 3 cm during level walking to approximately 10-15 cm over an obstacle (Chen et al., 1991; Patla et al., 1996; Chou et al., 1997) to minimize the risk of tripping. The hip, knee and ankle joints of the swing limb are modulated for phase and amplitude of flexion to ensure appropriate elevation of the swing foot over the obstacle (Patla et al., 1996). Due to a different proximity of the swing foot at the time of toe-off with the location of the obstacle, strategies with emphasis on different joints are adopted to elevate the swing foot to clear the obstacle (McFayden and Winter, 1991; Patla et al., 1996; Chou et al., 1997). The purposes of this study was to define a parameter that could describe different coordination strategies of hip and knee flexion of the leading and trailing limbs during obstacle crossing and to examine its relationship with the obstacle height in healthy young adults.

Trunk Kinematic Analysis during Gait in Cerebral Palsy Children with Crouch Gait Pattern

Background: Deficits in upper body movement have received little attention during gait in cerebral palsy (CP) children with crouch gait pattern (CGP).Objective: Purpose of this research is to describe the correlation of trunk movement with the excessive knee flexion and ankle kinematic in CP children with CGP.Methods: Gait analysis data from 57 limbs of diplegic CP children with CGP and 26 limb...

Objective Hemipelvectomy amputation is a surgical procedure in which the lower limb and a portion of pelvic are removed. There are a few studies on the performance of this group of patients while walking. The aim of this paper was to evaluate the effect of hemipelvectomy amputation on kinematics and muscle force generation of the lower limb while walking with Canadian prosthesis. Materials & M...

Assessment of the Hip and Knee Flexion Contractures in Cerebral Palsy Patients with Crouch Gait Çömelme Pozisyonunda Yürüyen Beyin Felçli Hastalarda Kalça ve Dizdeki Fleksiyon

The knee is the most affected joint in children with cerebral palsy. Flexion contracture of the knee is the cause of the crouch gait pattern, instability in stance phase of gait, and difficulties during standing and sitting, and other daily living activities. Hip flexion contracture in crouch gait is mostly compensation of the knee flexion contracture and ankle equines. The psoas muscle is the ...

Gait in patients with cerebellar ataxia.

The gait pattern in 10 patients with cerebellar degenerations was studied and the results were compared with 10 matched normal subjects, seeking the principal patterns in this disorder. Gait at natural speed was studied in a biomechanics laboratory using a video-based kinematic data acquisition system for measuring body movements. Patients showed a reduced step and stride length with a trend to...

The Effect of Knee Osteoarthritis on Excursions of Lower Limb Joints During Gait

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate excursion changes at the hip, knee, and ankle joints during gait in patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) of varying severity. Methods: The method of research was causal-comparative (Ex Post Facto). A Vicon motion analysis system with 4 T-Series cameras was used to measure the kinematics variables. Fifteen normal subjects without KOA and thirty patien...
